Golf Simulator Installation in St. Petersburg, FL
St. Petersburg golf simulator installation. We do residential bays in basements, garages and outbuildings, and commercial bays for venues across Pinellas County. The difference between the two is not the golf, it is the durability specification and the acoustic work, and we quote them separately because they are different jobs.
What A Proper St. Petersburg Install Involves
Ask around St. Petersburg and nobody complains about the golf season length. They complain about July. heat, humidity and afternoon storms make June through September a grind, and the practice that actually moves your handicap is the practice you skip because it's miserable outside. Put a bay indoors with real air conditioning and that objection disappears. We build a lot of these in Pinellas County for players who golf plenty and still felt like their practice had a four month hole in it.
Worth saying plainly: a simulator is practice, not a replacement for Mangrove Bay Golf Course. What it does is make sure the round you play there in April isn't the round where you rediscover your swing.

Altitude Calibration For St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg sits close to sea level at about 44 feet, which makes calibration simple. Your indoor carry numbers and your outdoor ones should line up without an altitude correction, so any gap you see is coming from something else: ball choice, mat interaction, or the launch monitor's placement. We still enter 44 during setup, because leaving the field untouched and setting it correctly are different things when you later move or upgrade the software.
Where These Bays Go In St. Petersburg
We install into finished basements, unfinished basements, attached and detached garages, purpose built outbuildings, spare rooms and commercial venues around St. Petersburg. The survey is identical every time and it takes six measurements: ceiling height at the lowest obstruction, width wall to wall at the hitting position, depth from the screen back past your swing, floor level corner to corner, every light source in the room, and what circuits reach the space. Those six decide the build.
If you have not chosen equipment yet, start with home golf simulators or the St. Petersburg residential page instead, then come back for the install.

| Measurement accuracy | Good enough. Guests cannot tell. | Good enough, unless you also run fittings. |
| Acoustics | Treat if adjacent to guest rooms. | Treat always. It is the top post opening complaint. |
| Screen grade | Commercial rated. Guests swing hard. | Commercial rated, replaced on schedule. |
| Licensing | Commercial licence if guests pay anything. | Commercial licence, no exceptions. |
| Peak indoor demand | June through September in St. Petersburg, driven by heat, humidity and afternoon storms. | Same window, and you are selling it by the hour. |
What The Install Includes
Electrical almost always comes up. A projector, computer, launch monitor and lighting sharing one household circuit will trip at the worst moment, so most Pinellas County installs want a dedicated circuit. We flag the requirement at quote stage and coordinate with your electrician rather than working around an underpowered room and hoping.
Field note. Garage slabs fall toward the door for drainage, usually about a quarter inch per foot. Level the bay area with a subfloor or your readings drift in one direction and you will blame your swing for months.

St. Petersburg Simulator Questions
Can I use a golf simulator year round in St. Petersburg?
Absolutely. Outdoor golf near St. Petersburg loses almost none to closures, but quality practice collapses during June through September when heat, humidity and afternoon storms set in. Indoors with proper air conditioning you get full sessions in July at the same quality as October. That's the real year round argument in this market.
What altitude should I set my simulator to in St. Petersburg?
Set it to 44 feet. That's the approximate elevation in St. Petersburg, and it matters because thin air adds carry at roughly two percent per thousand feet, putting you near 0.1 percent above a sea level reference. Every simulator platform has an altitude or elevation field in its environment settings and most ship set to sea level. Leave it wrong and your gapping chart will be off across the whole bag.
How far do you travel for installations?
We cover St. Petersburg and the wider Pinellas County area as standard, and we schedule survey visits across Florida most weeks. If you are outside the cities listed on this site, ask anyway. It is almost certainly still within range.
Is calibration included in the installation?
Always. Launch monitor calibration, altitude configured to your actual elevation rather than the sea level default, projector geometry checked against the screen, and a gapping session so you leave with your own carry numbers on record. This is the step most installers skip and the one that makes the room genuinely useful.
Do I need a permit to install a golf simulator?
The simulator itself is equipment rather than construction, so usually not. Associated work can be a different matter: new circuits, structural changes or a new outbuilding are typically permitted work, and requirements vary by municipality. Check with your local building department in St. Petersburg early, and we will tell you which parts of the scope are likely to need it.
