Ceiling height decides more about your build than budget does. We measure at the lowest obstruction, tell you honestly what the room supports, then spec to it.
Every home simulator conversation we have runs through three questions before equipment comes up. What is the ceiling height at the lowest obstruction in the swing path. How much width is there at the hitting position, for the club through impact and follow through rather than just the ball. And what is the floor, because turf laid straight onto a concrete slab is the single most common mistake we get called out to fix.
Answer those and the equipment list mostly writes itself. Low ceilings rule out overhead launch monitor mounting and point to side or floor units. A bright room needs blackout treatment before it needs a brighter projector. A garage needs insulation and heat before it needs a better screen. None of that is upselling, it is the difference between a bay you use through winter and one you stop walking into by February.
We push spend toward the launch monitor and the hitting surface, because those two decide whether the numbers are true and whether your wrists and elbows survive a season of practice. We pull spend away from projection, because a mid range projector in a properly darkened room beats an expensive one in a bright one every single time.
The other line that matters is room preparation. If your basement needs a duct moved or your garage slab needs levelling, that appears as its own line in the quote rather than getting buried. You should be able to see what you are paying for and decide what to change.

Most golfers want somewhere around ten feet to swing a driver freely, and nine is workable for a lot of people depending on height and swing plane. Below nine we look at your actual arc rather than a chart, because two golfers of the same height can need different clearances. Insulate and add a heat source or the bay goes unused during {indoor}. And put a proper subfloor under the turf rather than laying it on the slab, because hitting off concrete is hard on wrists and elbows.
You need something between the turf and the concrete. A subfloor absorbs shock that a slab reflects straight back into your joints, and it lets us get the hitting surface level, which matters for accurate readings. This is the item people cut to save money and the one we are most often called back to {city} to fix.

Rooms that need work first, like a duct reroute, added circuits or floor levelling, add time before we arrive rather than during.
